Life Changes

Its nice to see my blog getting regular views again; makes me incredibly happy. On my days that I'm not on here and you want to see the more everyday blogging I do feel free to check out my Insta; @HelloGeeg.
I update it fairly regularly and it's more of a personal insight into my life! Anyway thats not what I wanted to blog about today so back to being on topic!!!

Seeing as I start work in about two months; I decided now was the time to get myself together, re do my hair, start revamping my wardrobe so I can look more adult; turning twenty-one is catching up with me fast and I want to be able to look as professional, yet chic as I possibly can!

Hair
Well I've been known o mess around with my hair, grow it long then crop it short, dye it red then bright blonde (including that awkward bright ginger stage that no toner could ever fix) however this year I want to give my hair a bit of break and avoid the bleach as much as I can! I often get caught in the tragic cycle of being blonde all summer and brunette all winter! However i think i want to funk it up a little bit just before I start work and have found the colour I like!

Auburn is so multi-dimensional, looks amazing when it is in the sun and is relatively low maintenance with my natural dark hair! In terms of cut, i'm aiming to grow my hair out again currently, but it needs a good cut to get rid of my leftover bleached locks and split ends!

Clothes
Okay I admit, i don't exactly have money falling from the sky at the moment, however, I can afford to do buy myself a staple item for a my wardrobe every once in a while. Whilst I do not have enough clothes (not even sarcasm, I barely wear half of what I own) I am aiming at maturing my wardrobe a little bit in the coming month, and I started by reliving the classic Pinafore. I wore them at primary school, and when they are teamed with t-shrts for the casual look, a blouse for a special meeting with tights and some nice ankle boots, You suddenly look really put together!
Boohoo had a great option for me to try; which is arriving tomorrow alongside a wine coloured turtle neck shirt so I can look  nice and smart when I see my boyfriend on Tuesday for dinner without looking like a hobo!

Secondly I got treated to an amazing pair of ankle boots from Matt as a little gift from our weekend away at the bank holiday; that made me so happy and although i tried to pay for them myself he ran off with them whilst i was changing shoes! cheeky!
we agreed therefore that these boots are my smart boots, that i look after, polish and wear to occasions with his family and to work :D woo!
I also bought a cute little A line skirt in the sale, whether or not that fits or makes me look hideous is yet to be seen, but it's nice to try something even if i find it's not quite as cute as i first thought; I'm all about channeling the nineties at the moment; with Jennifer Aniston as my inspiration!!!

More to Come soon guys!!!

October Fest!

Hello hello Hello!

September has passed on which means I have been twenty for an entire month.. something that worries me because that means time has passed way to quick! This isn't just a usual post, instead it is going to be my October Haul Fest (so far!).

September & October are my two favourite months of the year, autumn colours come back into fashion & quite frankly I can justify wearing a cardigan anywhere. With Gold, Red and eve some cool pastels looking on point for this season, i couldn't help but start gathering my lovely winter clothes!

Winter is all about the smell of apple and cinnamon, mulled cider, roast dinners, snuggled up evenings and beautiful two toned leaves sweeping the country. These golds, browns and auburns are always the base of my wardrobe and often my make up bag. As a natural brunette with hazel eyes, the colours bring out the best in me!

Items (In order Left to Right!)

1. GAP Two Tone Waffle Snood £6.99 SALE
I live in snoods in winter! They go well when your having a lazy day, are a constant source of heat and genuine look very chic. I chose the black and grey mainly because it will go with more of my wardrobe and is a fundamental of my winter/spring wardrobe!
2. ANIMAL Estel Knitted Cardigan £55.00 Student Discount.
I couldn't resist! in fact this cardigan is what I am wearing as I type this. It's soft, snug and honestly? I know £60 is a lot of money for a cardigan but its so perfect! The colours are absolutely incredible comforting and the size of the cardigan (i have a medium) is just that bit baggier so its comfy!
3.NEXT Floral Dress. £24
The floral theme has stuck around for the entirety of 2014 and I don't think it is going anywhere! The texture of this dress is slightly bumpy, and the skater skirt is so flattering, especially for someone who is a bit body conscious like me! I like the versatility of this dress. It could be dressed up, dressed down. Worn to lunch or an interview. To me, It is a closet staple!
4.NEXT Berry Jeans. £20
Until my most recent attempt at weight loss, I hated jeans. they dug in, they cling to all of the wrong place and always rested on that horrendous muffin top. Since slimming down (7lbs! Woo!) I found these beauties today. The colour is warm, the material is soft unlike other coarse jeans. And they fit!!!!! Literally could not be happier with them! Using coloured jeans is a nice way to shake up an outfit, and also gets you to hunk about apply patterns to it!
5.ANIMAL Alouet Backpack £20 Student Discount
Every backpack I have had since the start of secondary school (Almost a scary ten years ago!) has been from Animal! They are sturdy, trustworthy, fashionable AND come with a two year guarantee! Need I say more?
6. APPLE 13" Macbook Pro with Retina Display, Upgraded Processor & RAM. £997 Student Discount.
Okkkk. Maybe this isn't what I buy myself every month, however as I sit here typing away on my gorgeous machine, I regret nothing. It is sleek, soft, pretty and weightless. The retina display literally makes it for me and I genuinely love it. Like I would a human child. Apple offer amazing student discount for education, hence the amazing price of this laptop. Maybe Apple isn't everyones cup of tea, and maybe UPS shipping is a pain in the arse, but once you go MAC you never go back. (hehe.)
7.ANIMAL Nevada Boots £40 Student Discount
They are like Uggs crossed with Vans. Vuggs.... Uans. Chose the hybridisation which you find most fun and realise that these shoes are why winter was created. Be fluffy, be stylish and comfy! AND A GREAT PRICE.

So thats it for now, I'm planning on updating my make up bag within the next month, so maybe Novembers Haul Collage will be filled with lovely makeup surprises! Wish me luck & I hope everyone has an amazing month! HAPPY OCTOBER!

SPENDIN'

It's very rare that I actually spend a lot of money on myself, I despise clothes shopping, I'm not a big shoe person & I'm much more of a rucksack girl than a ted baker bag hoarder. I like homemade and rare items like ones found on Etsy or Tee fury thirst which only have a 24 hour sale life making them practically limited edition.

Despite aloof that, I decided on Monday that I needed to spend a lot of money because I've been so super busy the last few weeks, Matt has been away & left me Monday-Friday and last but not least I felt I'll! So this happened,...

As a rundown of what exactly I have in this pile of goodness...

  1. A Bailey & Quinn Purse
  2. Essie Gel nail varnish ; colour: coral
  3. Borjois Paris Gel Eyeliner
  4. Maybelline Colossal Extreme Mascara in Extreme Black
  5. New Look Kimono
  6. New Look Jeggings
  7. New Look Orange Vests
  8. Pastel Semi-Permenant Hair Dye. Colour:Candy Floss
This all rounded up to a total just over 100 squids! I couldn't believe it!!! However, it was the most fun I have had in a while. I dyed my hair this morning and this is the result!!

An added bonus is there is no ammonia in the semi Permenant and for just over £4 it's added a completely fresh look to my summer wardrobe!!

I will also be having a clear out tomorrow night! Going through all my old clothes, I'll pop the eBay links on once I've put them online! I look after all of my clothes & I am such a hoarder and need to be strict with useful and get rid of anything I don't wear anymore until I lose the weight I want.

Until that update, I 'll write more soon guys! Xx

I wish I had articles written about me in Wellies & Jumpers.

The word feminist has been chucked around left right and centre over twitter the last few days, female empowerment has gone into superdrive and yet I still feel like people are missing the point.
'Feminism is the social, economical and political equality of the sexists'.
Thats right, I quoted Beyonce (well not actually beyonce but one of her songs & I cant help but feel that with that single line, my entire view of feminism changed. I honestly dont even think its feminism that is the problem... I think it is the constant stereotyping which is made by the media which is causing this.

It pains me to say this, as I love the media, I love studying it,I love the hype that is generated by it and it's cuckoo journalists trying to the best of their ability to sell another boring tabloid story. However, Its the reoccuring rubbish that gets sporuted out that has women aroudn the world screaming out in anguish!
There is a favourite post of mine on the internet which shows how the media dramatize everything that a woman is wearing and then simplfieis the meaning of it. Sexy *insert name here* wears a figure hugging number to the ball. = woman wears dress outside.

Look at this above article. I got it from the Daily Mail this morning (7.7.14), Look at each of these articles which have pride of place on the front page of the website to the right hand side...  Bikini Clad Helen Finnagan... Posh in a Baggy Jumper & Wellies.... Another bikini clad beauty  followed up by Reality star in a Plunging peach pencil dress whose cleavage is on show...

It's lazy and quite frankly boring as hell.. so what!? I wear a baggy jumper & wellies when I cant be assed... god forbid I get my boobs out once in a while... and my lease favourite comment... Balotelli's fiancee being referred to as his prize.

I cannot stress enough, I am not blaming men for this. This is not one big feminist rant... however I am annoyed with the newspaper itself. Until the media starts treating gender's as equal then quite frankly all the mumbling in the world aroudn social media will stay ignored.

btw. I've boycotted the Daily Mail, bunch of prententious tory wankers anyway.

LOOM MANIA

If you haven't already seen the craze sweeping the nation then you must have been on another planet! loom bracelets are the equivelent of my generations scooby do key rings (admit you remember them!) and are just as addictive.
For a child they promote creativity, colour co-ordination and are suitable for boys and girls!! Not only do they look cool but promote gender equality!!

I'm a bit older, but the ide of making my own simple jewellery which can be colour co-ordinate with my outfit is a bonus!!

You can buy the starter kits in basically any children's store at the mome, however I have used mainly eBay to get myself a wicked starter kit & some spectacular glittery bands to add to my creTions!

Another brilliant factor is even if one break, you can undo the bracelet and re use the bands! Eco friendly as well!

So join the craze and get making! I'll make a video soon showing you how to make them for those of you who are unaware!!!

Traipsing a National Park

It's not very often that I come across a vision which literally leaves me breathless. Usually I'll make a joke or not notice it at all, however over the weekend I got treated to not only a lovellllly dinner, but also to one of the most beautiful evenings I've ever had.

I had a lovely special visit from a very dear person to me over the weekend and unfortunately overslept and didn't go climbing which was the original plan! Instead I was taken to Epsom.
Obvs there is a big horse racing thing that goes down there every year, so I was expecting pretty great things... which I received! Epson Downs (If you ever get the chance) Gives you a delightful view of the London in its entirety from afar... and it is also a dogging site. (Not from personal experience)

Afterwards we left for the real amazement which is Box Hill National Park. I got to watch the Sun set over the most beautiful view on the planet and I felt completely at peace! Which is rare for a woman whose head goes at a bazillion miles and hour! Sharing a moment like that is something I doubt I will ever forget, so just as a remembrance... here are some lovely views I had.

IN OTHER NEWS.

I've had such a busy start to the week, I caught up on 16 pages of notes today, and I'm going to spend tomorrow afternoon planning one of my many assignments I have due in in the next few months, so i may be a bit slow. Hopefully I'm going to try and squeeze in a youtube video at some point (not that many people watch them BUT STILL) and also start working on my own private project! I want to create a short film of some kind but so far my thought process is close to nil!

If i haven't mentioned it before, I have an official ball coming up, which means I had to buy a dress which was not too expensive, but also glamorous! Thank god for the internet and specifically Goddiva an online store which honestly has some of the most beautiful dresses I have ever seen which are perfect for event which are important but not so important you want to break the bank over them! Plus with a 15% student discount I can't go wrong!!

I'm back on the health kick now after a few weeks of on/off eating, so today consisted of an spring onion and red pepper omelette, Porridge and then home made low fat taco's for dinner :)
