Reading Vs Glastonbury

Although i would never consider myself a critic, having been to both of the Uk's leading festivals in the last two years, i feel like it's appropriate to draw some comparisons.

Glastonbury 2013 VS Reading 2014

HEADLINERS
ARCTIC MONKEYS VS PARAMORE / QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE
THE ROLLING STONES VS ARCTIC MONKEYS
MUMFORD & SONS VS MACKLEMORE/BLINK 182

In terms if quality, they are both superb line ups. I've had the pleasure of seeing the arctic monkeys twice now. Although i've never really got in on the hype, Alex Turner is sauve, charasmatic and a wonderful frontman. In comparison, Hayley Williams led the female domination and absolutely lit up Readings arena and set of the featival with a bang! She faced a power cut and still entertained thecrowd with a very special 'the only exception' interlude! As for The Rolling Stones, although gods within their own right, i justs didnt feel they connected with the crowd very well, similarly Jake Bugg had next to no audience interaction; a massive turn off for me at a festival.
However  Sunday night was so full of hyped up fans that I have never quite felt a crowd react so well to any performer Macklemore & Ryan Lewis held the reading crowd in their palm, with dancers, interaction with the crowd, flames and fireworks! I have never screamed quite so loud in my life it was absolutely incredible. That was swiftly followed by Blink 182 who absolutely rocked the closing act of the festival, although Mumford and sons are a favourite of mine, Blink did reawaken the 14 year old little rock pop punk in me.

Overall; excellent music tastes on both sides on differing sides of the spectrum.

The facilities, toilet standards are similar, however the toilets in reading's arena were a breath of very much needed fresh air! There was also a lovely carnival ( albeit pricey!) and some excellent food options though again their prices were just that little bit too high for my liking (£4 for chips?! Really reading?!) Glasto had a lot more to offer with circus acts, an arts field, the chilled field of avalon... It gave you somethingg better to do than just sitting and waiting between your favourite acts, although I am aware there is a significant size difference between the two venues.

One thing I will downright SHAME reading for is the drinking rules. Bearing in mind that alcohol has become almost part of the festival experience it annoys me to no end that you are not aloud ANY alcohol into the reading arena. With the average price inside £4.90 for a Tuborg, £4.70 for cider or any single measure and mixer with no ice, to even get a slight buzz could put you back £20!

I understand the importance of safe drinking, but I can also understand why taking drugs is a more valid option to most reading festival goers, in the long run it is cheaper to get the same hype as spending 30 quid on alcohol.

Sadly the extrotionate prices have really ruined the reading experience for me.  Water is even charged at £2.20 a bottle with only one water top up facility in the main arena! This should be addressed and sorted because i've found myself having a relatively tame experience in comparison to Glastonbury.

It could be the exclusivity and competition of getting Glastonbury Tickets, but in general it attracts a different type of people. I've been pitched next to the walkway at Reading and even earplugs wont
Cover up the hideously annoying shouts of drunken groups of lads, out of their faces or the underaged girls and of course my complete favourite of middle classed man bun wearing arsehole who think that just because daddy paid for their ticket they have a god given right to push past you in a crowd which has no room in it.

Instead of focussing on being happy, many of the Reading go-er's were flattening peoples tents whilst they were in it or even setting tents alight. It's a horrible feeling especially when you are camping alone that you could be the next victim.

At Glasto, everyone was happy, there was no angry teenagers just people who genuinely enjoyed the music and put two fingers up to everyone else.

At Reading, I overheard one man say ' fuck me i'd sniff her gash! Followed by a lovely young girl state 'LETS GET FUCKING MORTAL YOU BUNGH OF C*NTS!'

I think that sums up which if the two experiences I would do again, however the end result is always the same... A desperate need of a shower, bed and new vocal chords!

REVIEW: Inbetweeners 2

It was always going to be unlikely that the sequel to the box office smash The Inbetweeners was going to a hit.

That is what I wish i could say, despite irking me with fundamentally comedy based around mysodgny I cant help but commend the director and those four man boys on the second film following the successful TV show.

I'm not a fan of sequels. The Lion King 2 let me down, not to mention The Expendables 2 & 3... Then again.. Jaws 2 wasnt THAT bad (i joke!). However altogether they did a very good job.

The style of filming is what held it together for me. This film was very standalone, it didnt leave open ended and on a whole was much more polished that the first lads holiday nightmare! Instead the character depths were developed whilst still maintaining the british boyish charm(?!) that makes them so appealing to the audience.

Despite a rocky & slightly rushed beginning Morris & Beesley hols it together with well spaced belly laughs which leave the audience cringing but unable to look away... Alot like Will's attempts to chat up the dithering hippy that is Katie!

What does this mean for the group as a whole though? Undeniably, They are leaving the land of being inbetweeners anymore. Although we'd love to we cant follow these 4 men through the rest of their life... Personally I hope they leave it there. There is nothing worse than a comedy which has gone on for far too long & is barely scraping the barrell anymore .*cough*american pie *cough*

There could have been some recognition as too what happened to all of the ladies in the previous film, will & neils lovers are barely mentioned.... And lucy's apparent mental breakdown is bordering on offensive. Despite this they deserve

4 stars!!!

@THEFILMCELL

Hey everyone!!!

It's been a little while... Wait no actually I've updated quite a bit recently and am gradually gaining an audience of you lovely individuals!!!

However I've had a busy few days ( which I will talk about in my next post!!) yet my phone beeped away at me today with a notification from twitter!

The tweet was from this company who I am going to write about today called THE FILM CELL. These guys are a wicked website which specialise in fancy dress, and fan based merchandise with some proper gems hidden away.
Admittedly, it's a little pricey, however it is all official merch which if you didn't already know has a huge market behind it due to the success of comic con and other fan based conventions.

I've had.a wander around their website and cannot fault a single item of there so I thought I'd share my favourite geeky finds with you!!

1. Star Wars lightsabre BBQ tongs £19.99
Do you need explaining how absolutely awesome this is?!?! I want them in my life because I want to pretend I'm Mace Windu whilst cooking myself some shraaaaamp.

2. The Hobbit : Official One Ring £44.99

okay it's higher up the end of the budget for me, but it want to have the one ring, I want to whisper my precious whilst glaring at strangers and most importantly I want to go all evil Gladriel on people and then whisper at them that I have passed the test.

3. Doctor Who Tom Baker 4th Doctor Scarf Replica £44.99
I actually own one of these. Buy it and have it in your life, it's perfect for winter though does sometimes fall in your food. Which is unfortunate. But totally worth it!!!

So those are my top 3 buys from there HOWEVER there are thousands of things including Harry potter replicas, Star Wars model and some FANTASTIC fancy dress options, because let's be honest we always stop and want to top everyone when it comes to fancy dress.... Well from chewbacca to your average slutty pirate head this way!!

Almost 500... And a Review

Oh thats exciting, according to blogger I have almost had 500 page views! That makes me exceptionally happy that you lovely people are paying attention to my odd ramblings! Its a bit angst I know BUT thanks for sticking in there!

So I've decided to do a review, would you believe it! I am honestly the worst type of girl, I hate shopping at the best of times, however I came across a life saving make up item!

Its the Revlon ColorBurst Matte Balm. (my shade is : 245 Audacious)

I generally avoid lipsticks, they feel to greasy for me, and they always smudge. I like to be able to snog my fella and not leave a trampy mess behind... so this little pocket sized god send is perfect! It's tip is thick, yet pointed so that you can properly trace and show off your cupids bow, whilst the sides give a nice sweep motion over the width of you lip.
For test value... I went to a meal last night. I applied before going out to meet a few friends and topped it off with a little bit of vasaline (cold weather murders my lips). Midway through the meal (and a few glasses of wine) I popped to the toilet and couldn't believe that it was still in place, no smudging and it was just as bright as when I applied it.
Towards the end of the night (up to 5 hours later) I noticed the colour began to fade, but I am very impressed!

Finally, In super drug (where I bought it) It was on offer for only 4.50 as opposed to it's RRP of £7. So yes a little bit dear, but it is so worth it!

Rating: 4/5 stars; for a high street brand, I was amazed!!!

Keep An Eye On: MYFLASHTRASH

It's quite rare these days to find a website where everyone you know isn't buying from it. It saves risky matching outfits and specifically jewellery. I love bracelets, they have always been my thing! However, as I have got older, I've noticed that it is becoming increasingly difficult to find anything unique or fancy without a OTT price tag OR completely general with every other high street shop.

I thought I'd share my knowledge with you; My Flash Trash

This website has been an utter life saver, I hate shopping, especially now I live in London! The thought of going anywhere busy makes me shudder let alone to shop admits hunger mad fashion icons and about 100 girls who are skinnier than I am!

However, I digress...

These are just some of my favourite which have just been added to the New In section.

Gold Spoon Earrings: £12.00
These are utterly adorable, A little quirky yet still register an elegant feel! I've currently got these on delivery so I am super excited!

Star Sign Midi Ring: £12.00
I've fallen in love with midi rings! They suit elegant smaller finger, which are possibly one of my only defining features (despite my love for biting my nails!) These come in all star signs and at £12 I know it's a bit of a splurge, but it is on something personal!

Pug Diamante Iphone Case £15.00
This is such a guilty pleasure for me! I can't help but love iPhone cases, but since ebay only seems to offer ridiculously generic ones these days I am more than happy to fork out an extra few quid for one which is extra special. And I love pugs! (Hazard Bizarre PICK!)

Finally...

Pink Coco's tea Party bracelet. £15.00
I know! expensive for a bracelet! However, it is currently on a BOGOF deal! Which makes it awesome value when hunting for xmas or birthday presents! They come in all sorts of colours so have a root around!

I hope this has introduced you to a new kind of shopping! Happy shopping guys!

My boycott of Pizza Hut.

hello hello hello everyone!

I'm sorry, I've been gone quite a while but I've had possibly the busiest two weeks of my life! Being back at University is one of those things, suddenly everything is happening at once and I've been left a bit flustered!
However, I'll try and narrow it down a little bit!

My flat mate broke her arm, the poor thing! another drunken night where she was picked up, dropped and fractured her radius in the process, daft woman! I forgot how much A & E freaks me out! However moving forwards I was lucky enough to get a chance to see Les Miserables in the West End on Wednesday!
It was superb i have never felt so alive after leaving a theatre, the musical was amazing and I must admit, despite my concerns Carrie Fletcher was utterly magnificent as Eponine, she was beautiful and perfect and I couldn't flaw one single thing about her!

After leaving the theatre, my two flatmates and myself decided on going to pizza hut as a treat after being so good in healthy eating habits for 2 weeks! We arrived, were left waiting for 15 minutes before finally being seated. Once we were seated we had a table of 5 put on a table of four next to us, meaning one of the gentlemen was practically sat on my lap! My mood began to sink fairly quickly.
After 20 minutes waiting, my friend finally asked if we could have our food and drink order taken
(time is currently at 45 minutes, not even received a drink) the girl then preceded to tell me that she can't take order.

-pause-

I understand what it is like on a busy shift in a restaurant, my job is as a waitress, what i don't understand is how someone can be so rude and disregarding of your feelings as a paying guest within the establishment. It made me angrier.

-play-

finally 10 minutes after she said she had gone to get someone to take our order, the grumpiest man on the planet took our order and left, hopefully putting it through. May I add that at this stage, the table next to us ordered their meal ten minutes after us, therefore; why on earth did they receive their starter before us?
We waited another 10 minutes before finally having enough and walking out. I was raging by this point and wanted to kill someone!

I intend to pay good money when i go into any food establishment, what i don't expect is to be treated like i'm invisible, even if it is busy!

Rant over guys!

A brief hello

Howdy!

God, that really was awful, very doctor-esque but i am never ever saying that again!

This is really an introduction if nothing else, I used to blog frequently but since starting university (as a film student) and having a part time job i have just been run off of my feet! However, there has been a development! Im a free woman... sort of; basically i quit my job cause it was far too much!

This is an awful introduction! My name is Georgia, Geeg, Georgia, any variation of the word if you like! I respond to pretty much everything! What can I tell you about myself? hmmm. Ok, I'm 19, a september baby who loves books, television, rock climbing films and just about anything in between! I understand the blogging situation & to advance this and actually hear from some of you lovely people I should give you something on my recommendation!

1) Book: Pear Shaped; a typically girly book but a really nice insight to modern day relationships and the things that happen. Its realistic & the writing really ends up moving you, with just  the right amount of sexy stuff.
2) Sherlock... Doctor Who.... QI.... Fawlty Towers.... I could list forever my love of television & i really like something new to add to the collection!
3) Films? Classically, Pulp Fiction will always be dear to me, but so will Ruby Sparks. Its an utterly heartbreaking but beautiful film. It gave me goosebumps!

I can't really 'prove' or recommend rock climbing, however its one of my new hobbies at university and i absolutely love it. There is no pressure and i have yet to meet an unfriendly climber! I'm the fresher rep of our club at Brunel.

I suppose really this is self promotional; however i do also write fan fiction, I don't really have many main canons and i often go with what i get bitten by, to me its a creative outlet before i can get my courage together to start making youtube video's again!

What will my blog be about?
I'm not particularly sure yet! A mixture of reviews, product testing, and most importantly an insight into my life! I'm possibly one of the most caring people you may ever meet; i have time for anyone and everyone & just say hi! i don't bite... not until i know you well enough! I'll put all of my social networking links below so you can see some of my work!

So Hi!
